Comfort Foods
When has there ever been an important event in life where food did not play a vital role? Food is life, and in many cultures, food is love.
People often talk about “comfort foods.” My mom made macaroni and cheese when I was a child. It’s not something I eat regularly, but when I do, I am always transported back to those early memories of my mom and home. The significance of food on our memories cannot be denied.
My Grandma Sheila taught me to make homemade Texas sheet cake, lemon meringue pie, and pumpkin cream cheese roll. I savor the memories of her teaching me to cook in my own kitchen as a young wife and mother.
What is your comfort food, and who inspired you to cook?
